Gather at 10 a.m. at Lokintaipalee, located at the western end of the lake.
One week later, on Sunday, May 11th, at 10 a.m., the focus shifts to Lake Vähäjärvi in Härmälä. Here, participants will explore the rich birdlife that thrives on the lake’s shores and within the surrounding forests, all led by the knowledgeable Lasse Kosonen.
On Thursday, May 22nd, join environmental biologist Tuomas Lilleberg for a deeper connection with nature during an insightful hike around Lake Iidesjärvi. This experience includes a stroll along the serene nature path and a visit to the historic Nekala waste disposal site, now transformed into a vibrant park. Participants meet at 5 p.m. at the Lokintaipale bridge.
Looking to soak in the symphony of spring? Join Lasse Kosonen on Sunday, May 25th, for a morning trip to Villilänsaari. Renowned for its melodious small bird populations, the tour begins at 8 a.m. at the Villilänsaari parking lot.
Wild Vegetable Tours: Discover Spring’s Edible Delights
If you’re eager to learn about the edible treasures nature has to offer, consider joining one of Tuomas Lilleberg’s wild vegetable tours. Designed for all levels of experience, these excursions will equip you with the skills to identify and gather wild greens. Just bring your curiosity!
Reservations are necessary for the wild vegetable tours, which kick off at 5 p.m. The Haihara tour, taking place on Thursday, May 15th, will be presented in English. Additionally, there will be two other tours in Finnish, exploring locations in Kaukaniemi and Tohloppi later in the month.

Throughout the summer, a variety of nature excursions will unveil the captivating landscapes of Tampere. Mark your calendars for June 1st when the new Viikinsaari nature path opens, followed by the unveiling of the Rantaperkiö path on August 17th.

In August, look forward to a wild mushroom excursion in the lush forests of Vuores and Reuharinniemi, as well as an English-language tour in Hervantajärvi. Here, you’ll delve into the world of Finnish mushrooms, learning to recognize, forage, and utilize these natural delights.
Adventurous Nature Trips for Children
For younger explorers, guided nature excursions will spark curiosity and adventure. Led by Tuomas Lilleberg, these trips will allow children to discover the local environment in an engaging way. Excursions kick off at noon, beginning with a swamp and water exploration at Tohlop on Tuesday, June 10th. Subsequent trips will take place on June 17th at Vihioja and an exciting adventure at Hikivuori on August 30th. Finally, on September 27th, children will explore the fall forest in the Peltolammi-Pärrinkoski nature conservation area.
Advance booking is essential for these excursions, which are tailored for children aged 8 to 12. Parents or guardians are encouraged to accompany their young adventurers.
