We parked our car at the designated lot at the end of Haikarinkatu, mere moments from the swaying wooden bridge that leads us directly to the island. Instantly, our senses were treated to a captivating panorama: sunlight danced on the surface of the lake, playful coots paddled among the lily pads, and a few young anglers cast their lines from the shore.
