Finland Secures Title of World’s Happiest Country for Fourth Consecutive Year
In a world that often seems overwhelmed by chaos, Finland has once again emerged at the forefront of happiness, claiming the title of the happiest country on Earth for the fourth consecutive year, according to the World Happiness Report. While maintaining such a position might appear challenging, officials from Visit Finland assert that happiness is less a product of circumstance and more a matter of mindset. To that end, they are inviting everyone to participate in a unique opportunity: a masterclass in happiness itself.
“Why are Finns so happy?” This question is frequently posed, and Heli Jimenez, senior director of international marketing at Business Finland, offered insight into the Finnish psyche. “We believe that happiness comes from a deep connection with nature and our simple way of life. Finland is bustling with immersive experiences in the great outdoors—our invigorating forests, picturesque lakes, and stunning archipelago provide the perfect backdrop to relax, recharge, and connect with your inner joy.”
Introducing the Masterclass of Happiness
So, what exactly contributes to the Finns’ contentment? This summer, the Masterclass of Happiness offers a four-day, immersive experience designed to explore four central themes: food and well-being, health and balance, design and everyday living, and nature and lifestyle. Running from June 12 to June 15, 2023, the course will be led by experts across various fields who will share their techniques and philosophies, illustrating how these elements converge to foster a fulfilling, happy life.
Visit Finland is particularly keen to engage outgoing individuals with a genuine interest in well-being and an open heart. Participants will be filmed during the sessions for promotional purposes, creating a unique opportunity to showcase the journey toward happiness.
While selected attendees won’t receive monetary compensation, their travel and accommodation expenses will be fully covered.
Your Stay at the Masterclass
During your time at the Masterclass, you’ll find yourself staying at the all-inclusive Kuru Resort, nestled in a private villa along the serene lakes of the Finnish Lakeland region. The resort is enveloped by lush forests, emphasizing the Finnish belief in nature’s restorative powers. Although the villas are designed to promote digital detox—absent of televisions—they do offer Wi-Fi for those who need it. Each accommodation features a private sauna and spa, equipped with thoughtfully curated amenities aimed at ensuring restful sleep.
How to Apply
The application process for the Masterclass of Happiness comprises two phases. First, prospective participants must complete a form that includes their name and contact details, paired with a social media challenge that taps into creativity. Participants are invited to create and share content explaining why they might just be a secret Finn. Both components must be completed for consideration.
Applications are due by April 2, and a selection of ten participants will be announced on May 2 via Visit Finland’s Instagram and TikTok channels.
