After an unexpectedly long hiatus from the blog, I find myself re-emerging with a blend of new experiences and renewed vigor. Life has a way of shifting our focus, and for a while, I was caught in the whirlwind of a mid-life crisis, where the energy and inspiration to explore new culinary adventures seemed elusive. But today, I’m excited to share a fresh recipe that I hope will reignite the joy of cooking we all cherish.
During my time away, a number of noteworthy events have transpired that I’m eager to share. First and foremost, I successfully passed my language test for citizenship—no small feat, I assure you. I can now confidently declare that I speak Swedish at an upper-intermediate level. As many of you may know, Finland recognizes both Finnish and Swedish as official languages, and this milestone has reignited my motivation to dive deeper into Finnish as well. I’m currently working on achieving fluency in that language too.
In addition to my linguistic accomplishments, I’ve embarked on a new professional journey: teaching at the Adult Education Center in Helsinki. I’m thrilled to lead part-time cooking and baking workshops that focus on collaboration and creativity. My courses invite participants to explore the art of making intricate dishes, using food as a medium for craftsmanship. Together, we craft “unconventional pies and dishes,” allowing imagination and innovation to take center stage.
