Helsinki’s VALO Hotel & Work once again claimed top honors as Finland’s leading hotel at the World Travel Honors held last week in Berlin, reinforcing its reputation as a trailblazer in the realm of functional, hybrid accommodations.
“This recognition is not just a win; it’s a testament to the VALO team’s unwavering passion for our guests and our mission,” remarked Hannu Holma, co-founder and CEO of VALO Hotel & Work. He emphasized the hotel’s commitment to bringing “Authentic Encounters” into the daily lives and work experiences of its patrons.
Holma acknowledged the significance of this award, stating, “This accolade sets a high bar for our concept and staff. It’s gratifying to see that we’re on the right path in meeting our customers’ needs.”

This year, VALO has also entered the running for the Workplace Awards, vying for the title of Finland’s best working environment.
Globally, VALO has received accolades for its multi-purpose functionality and commitment to sustainability, including Marie Claire UK’s Sustainability Award, BREEAM certification, Sustainable Travel Finland certification, and Green Key certification.
A Leader in Hybrid Hotel and Workspace Models
Minna Hurme, VALO’s head of design, recently spoke at London’s Hotel Interior Exhibition during a panel titled “Nomadland: How Can Hotels Prepare for the Future of Work?” There, she expressed enthusiasm about the growing interest in VALO’s dual-use concept.
“VALO’s hotel-workspaces diverge significantly from traditional designs, particularly with hotel rooms,” she explained. “They synergize the needs and ambiance of two distinct customer groups, both functionally and aesthetically.”
Hurme also highlighted the design philosophy behind VALO, which prioritizes sustainability infused with elements of Finnish clarity, natural light, intricate details, authenticity, and a dynamic atmosphere that adapts from one space to another.
