Gervonta Davis Arrested on Assault Charges After Two-Week Manhunt
Boxing sensation Gervonta Davis was taken into custody on Wednesday, following an extensive two-week search by authorities, as reported by various outlets including TMZ. The 31-year-old athlete faces serious allegations, including assault, deprivation of liberty, and attempted kidnapping.
The Miami Gardens Police Department has indicated that these charges stem from a troubling incident involving a woman at a local club. According to statements made by the woman, she was in a five-month intimate relationship with Davis. She claims that during her shift at the club back in October, he approached her aggressively—grabbing her by the back of the head, pulling her hair, and choking her.
The ordeal escalated when Davis allegedly forced her down the stairs into the club’s parking garage, maintaining a grip on her head. It was there that he reportedly released her, allowing her to escape.
Two days after the incident, the woman filed a criminal complaint, prompting the police to launch an investigation. Authorities have since reviewed video footage that corroborates her account.
Davis was arrested on Wednesday, and his bail has been set at $16,000, approximately €13,300. This arrest comes just as he was scheduled to face Jake Paul in the boxing ring this November, a match now canceled in light of the unfolding allegations.
The developments in this case have raised significant concerns about Davis’s future both in and out of the ring, as the sporting world watches closely.
