Anni Jämsä Takes on New Role at Yleisradio
Anni Jämsä, a familiar face from Warner Bros. Discovery and Sanoma’s sports broadcasts, is embarking on an exciting new chapter in her career. She has been appointed as the new sports editor for Yleisradio’s sports department, where she will also take on presenting duties for various programs, including the well-known Urheiluruutu.
This transition feels like a homecoming for Jämsä. “I am extremely happy to embrace such a significant opportunity at the country’s largest sports organization,” she shared, reflecting on her initial steps in the industry. “My first assignments were with Yle during the Women’s World Cup in 2023.”
Her previous roles at Warner Bros. Discovery and Sanoma were equally enriching. “Both experiences were invaluable. At Warner Bros., I was trusted with productions such as the Olympics and the World Youth Hockey Championships right from the start, which was incredibly rewarding. The training I received there helped shape me into a professional,” she recalled.
A Foundation in Basketball
At just 30 years old, Jämsä brings a robust sports background to her new position, having played for the women’s national basketball team. “When you dedicate yourself to something for a long time—like I did in basketball—I bring that same level of commitment to my dream jobs,” she remarked, emphasizing how her athletic experience enriches her work in sports journalism. “That background is definitely an asset in this field.”
Jämsä is set to begin her new role at Yleisradio in early November, and her supporters eagerly anticipate her contributions to the sports landscape in Finland.
