Holiday Hours for Grocery Stores, Alko Outlets, and Posti Services
As the festive season approaches, grocery stores, Alko Outlets, and Posti service points across Finland will be operating under a holiday schedule this week.
This Christmas week, most supermarkets will remain open but will reduce their hours. Notably, some K-Citymarkets and Prisas will continue to operate around the clock, providing convenience for those last-minute shoppers.
For precise opening times specific to each Kesko and S Group outlet, customers are encouraged to check the respective websites.
Lidl stores, for example, will close at 4 PM on Christmas Eve. All outlets of the German retail chain will then shut down completely on Christmas Day, reopening on Boxing Day with hours similar to those on Sundays. More details about each store’s schedule can be found on Lidl’s website.
Alko: Christmas Eve Hours
Alko shops will maintain regular weekday hours and will close at 9 PM on Tuesday, December 23. On Christmas Eve, Alko outlets will welcome customers from 9 AM until noon, and then they will remain closed through Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Meanwhile, Finland’s national postal service, Posti, will close its own stores on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day. However, the operation of their network of parcel lockers and service points will vary according to the hours of the partner businesses that host them.
“Most of our service points operate within partner businesses, like shops, kiosks, and service stations, and will be open according to the partner’s opening hours,” Posti explained in a recent press release.
Additionally, service points for Kela, Finland’s social benefits agency, will also be closed during the holiday. Nevertheless, their chatbot will be available 24/7 on the Kela website and through the OmaKela app, ensuring accessible support even during the festive period.
