Rasmus Karjalainen Back at AC Oulu
In an exciting development for AC Oulu fans, star striker Rasmus Karjalainen is making his return to the club after spending the last two seasons with SJK. His new contract will keep him at AC Oulu until the end of the 2028 season, a move that has sparked optimism among the team and its supporters.
AC Oulu’s sports director, Mika Nurmela, expressed enthusiasm about Karjalainen’s versatility. “Rasse is a vital asset for us. He can play multiple offensive roles, providing us with numerous options,” he said on the club’s official website.
Last season, the 29-year-old forward showcased his skills by netting nine goals across 28 matches in the Veikkausliiga. But it’s not just his scoring that underscores his value. “In addition to his goal-scoring prowess, Rasse brings leadership and raises the expectations in our daily activities. We’re thrilled to have him back in Oulu,” Nurmela added.
Karjalainen’s previous tenure at AC Oulu spanned the 2022 and 2023 seasons, and he returns to a city that holds a special place in his heart. “AC Oulu has always been a cherished club for me. Coming home was always an option I considered. From the outset, the conversations with the club felt right,” he reflected.
Looking ahead, Karjalainen is optimistic about the team’s direction. “I believe AC Oulu has the potential to be among the top six clubs in Finland,” he stated.
Last season was not without its challenges, as AC Oulu finished tenth in the Veikkausliiga. The league’s structure allows the top six teams from the preliminary series to advance to what is known as the Championship Series—a goal Karjalainen undoubtedly aims to help the team achieve in the coming season.
