Otto Ruoppi Feels the Energy of KuPS Fans at Selhurst Park

In a moment that sent chills down his spine, Otto Ruoppi found himself at the center of the action in front of an enthusiastic crowd of KuPS supporters at Selhurst Park.

The energy was palpable as Ruoppi and his teammates took to the field. It all began with an electrifying solo run initiated by Kiri, blazing an early trail for KuPS in the match. Just minutes into the second half, Ruoppi, the 19-year-old midfielder, received a perfectly timed pass from Don Arifi.

With the opponent’s defense wide open, he seized the opportunity, advancing the ball all the way into the Crystal Palace penalty area. “I noticed that Saku Savolainen was in a good position, so I made the pass to Pio Piotr Parzyszek, and he finished it beautifully,” Ruoppi recounted. The Polish forward celebrated the equalizer in front of nearly a thousand KuPS fans, an uplifting moment that resonated deeply. “It was special to have so many friends and family there. It definitely gave me a chill,” he added, visibly moved.

The momentum quickly shifted as KuPS aimed to take a 2-1 lead. However, a red card issued to Clinton Antwin sent ripples through the team’s strategy. “It was a tough moment for us. I found myself playing out of position for a while and struggled to adapt, which allowed the opponents to take advantage,” he reflected.

Soon after, Justin Devenny scored, equalizing the match at 2-2 right in front of Ruoppi. “I truly believed we would pull through,” he said, embodying the optimism that defines his playing style.

Head coach Jarkko Wiss acknowledged that the game took an unexpected turn, with Ruoppi perhaps being asked to shoulder more responsibility than anticipated. “It was a critical moment for us. I was about to make a substitution, but I trusted Otto to manage the situation. Unfortunately, that’s where we faced a setback,” Wiss explained. “After that, the game became increasingly challenging.”

Yet Wiss was quick to praise Ruoppi’s talent and potential. “Otto is a remarkable player. Last season, he didn’t see much playing time, but now he’s stepping into the spotlight, and he’s becoming a key player for KuPS.”

As the match unfolded, it was clear that while challenges arose, Otto Ruoppi’s spirit and determination would surely play a pivotal role in the journey ahead for KuPS.
