A tragic incident marred a wedding celebration in India when a bodybuilder was brutally killed by a group of men, an event that has sent shockwaves through the community.
According to the police, the confrontation began when a group of young men were taking selfies in a corridor where guests were attempting to pass. Rohit Dhankhar, a bodybuilder attending the wedding, confronted the group, leading to a heated exchange.
Following the altercation, Dhankhar and a friend attempted to leave the venue in their car. However, they found themselves stalled at a railway crossing, which further exacerbated the situation. Eyewitness accounts suggest that a larger group of men surrounded their vehicle, forcibly dragging Dhankhar out and subjecting him to a savage beating with sticks and field hockey blades.
Despite being rushed to the hospital, Dhankhar succumbed to his injuries on Saturday. His friend recounted, “We were simply at a wedding. We encountered individuals using inappropriate language while noticing there were women around. Then, an hour later, they attacked us.”
While the specifics of the incident remain murky, Dhankhar’s family alleges that the beating was in retaliation for his defense of the women present. Reports from the Times of India reveal that Dhankhar, who suffered an injury to his right leg, was a dedicated fitness trainer and a para athlete competing in powerlifting.
This tragic event raises pressing concerns about social behavior at public gatherings and the alarming prevalence of violence when conflicts arise.
