Rain continues to drench the western and southern regions of Finland, while central areas and Oulu are experiencing snow and sleet.
As Finland marks its Independence Day, a damp and overcast sky will cloak much of the nation, with only Lapland expecting temperatures to dip below freezing.
Rain is projected to sweep in from the Southwest throughout the day, saturating southern and western areas.
By the afternoon and evening, this rain is set to transition into sleet and snow across northern Central Finland as well as in North Savo and North Karelia. The Oulu region can also expect snowfall later in the evening, while Lapland is likely to remain relatively dry.

Meteorologist Kristian Roine from the weather service Foreca shared that central Finland and the Oulu region could receive several centimeters of snow overnight.
A traffic weather warning has been issued for Central Finland and North Savo, effective from 6 PM Saturday until 1 AM Sunday, due to anticipated sleet and snowfall. Roine advised that motorists should exercise caution through Sunday morning.
“In the early hours of Sunday, drivers should take particular care in North Karelia, North Savo, and areas in Central Finland north of Jyväskylä extending towards Oulu,” he noted.
Nonetheless, Roine reassured the public that the impending snowfall is not expected to be severe.
“There’s no blizzard chaos on the horizon,” he remarked with a hint of optimism.
